Versatility combined with quality and productivity. Väderstad Cultus is an aggressive cultivator that can be fitted with a range of different equipment options, depending upon soil type. These options include rubber packer for lighter soils and steel packer for heavier soils.

Cultus is available in 4.2m, 5.0m and 6.2m working widths, suitable for tractors of 150-400 hp. Cultus will integrate into a wide variety of cropping and cultivation systems, providing uniform and efficient soil movement down to 25cm.

Success is easy
Easy handling and perfect tillage results were two of the guiding concepts in the development work of Cultus. Working depth is set hydraulically from the tractor cab and can be altered during work if required. The setting influences both the pressure roller at the back and the support wheels at the front.

The shape and position of the tines are two of the secrets behind the impressive tillage results of Cultus. Since the tines create a continual flow of soil and plant residues, no irregularities arise for the levellers or packer to cope with. Cultivation is very intensive down to 25cm and the surface is left well levelled and consolidated behind.

All strategies have the same aim
Cultus is designed to achieve exactly what every farmer wants – uniform, accurate, level, fast and reliable cultivation. In any situation, Cultus can be put to work creating the ideal seedbed quickly and without fuss.

Powerfull tines

The design and placement of the tines are two of the secrets behind the Cultus cultivator's impressive results. Since the tines create a continuous flow of soil and plant residues, there are no irregularities to be dealt with by levelling discs or pressure roller. Cultivation is very intensive to a depht of 25 cm and the soil surface is well levelled and reconsolidated.

On impact with stones, tines can deflected by up to 25 cm. The rigid tines has stone realese pressure of 400 kp, which means that the cultivator has a stable ride and can perform very powerful cultivation.

Levelling

The levelling discs on Cultus level out any furrows left by the final row of tines. These discs are mounted on rubber suspension, which ensures good contouring and high stone tolerance.

Consolidation

Soil consolidation is an important part of thorough soil cultivation. Good consolidation is the key to getting volunteer seeds to germinate, following which, they can be controlled mechanically or chemically.

Steel Roller
This is the option for heavy soils where more aggressive consolidation is required. The machine is then transported on one rear axle. The 600mm steel rings consolidate and finely crush heavy soils more optimally than the rubber roller. The steel rings are manufactured from hardened special steel to give a very long lifetime.

Rubber Roller
This option uses an 800mm diameter rubber roller, providing good consolidation in most conditions. On light soils, the rubber roller is completely superior because of its large diameter. The surface of the roller is covered with rubber, which gives it a very low rolling resistance and the risk of soil dragging is practically eliminated.

Folding Mechanism

Cultus folds into two halves for road transport, giving a transport width of only 3m, regardless of working width. Folding is controlled from the tractor cab and automatic locking hooks prevent the machine from unfolding accidentally. When in the field, the transport locks are released manually, before the wings are lowered, ready for work.

Machine setting and preparation can take up a large proportion of the operators time. It is essential to choose a machine that can be put into work as quickly as possible upon arrival at the field. Cultus can be folded and unfolded in an instant, meaning that work can start immediately.

Drawbar

The floating headstock system fitted to Cultus performs two major functions – Improving manoeuvrability on headlands and in gateways, as well as allowing the machine to be operated fully independently of the tractor. This means that contours and irregularities in the field are dealt with effortlessly.

The drawbar for Cultus utilises the tractor link arms for control. By fitting the machine in this way, we are able to ensure that it handles in the best way possible. Despite it’s impressive proportions, Cultus can be turned and adjusted easily from the tractor, improving output and ease of use.

4 different towing eyes
On the 2008 models of Rapid, TopDown, Cultus and Carrier 420-1225, Väderstad introduces a new standardised drawbar interface. Each machine has a standard interface where different towing eyes can be mounted. There are four different towing eyes available:

  • Towing eye 40mm
  • Towing eye 50mm
  • Ball towing eye (CAT) 57mm
  • Ball coupling 80mm

Depth Wheels

Large support wheels in front of the cultivator’s working area provide a stable ride at high driving speeds. Cultivation depth can be set hydraulically from the driving seat and even be altered during work.

The front depth wheels work in conjunction with the rear packer roller via a master and slave system to control depth accurately from the cab and on the move. A scale provides the operator with a constant and accurate reminder of the current depth setting.

Easy to replace tine points

The design of the tine point is patent-applied. Since the are divided into shin and point, it is sufficient to change only the point, thus minimising wear part costs.
Both point and the wing blade are available in optional Marathon form, where they are reinforced with a wearing surface of hard metal (wolfram carbide) for substantially longer life.

The wing blades can be fitted on both the standard 80 mm point and the wider 120 mm point.

The narrow 50 mm point is preferable for deep loosening of the soil profile, e.g. breaking up a plough pan.

The new 210 mm point is very suitable for shallow cultivation, e.g. incorporation of manure, or directly after harvesting to encourage volunteer and weed seeds to germinate.

Folding tine

Cultus can be equipped with folding tines that allow the machine to cultivate the soil deeper with the same tractor, e.g. through folding up the two outer tines on each side.

Cultus can also be used to cultivate with a wider tine distribution by folding up alternate tines.
