Carrier Drill (mounted)

Carrier Drill 300S (mounted)

With Carrier Drill, all soil tillage and drilling can be performed with only one machine. Few other machines on the market can compare in terms of capital binding and versatility. With Väderstad quality as standard, this machine offers a great opportunity for the smaller grower.

Large hopper

High capacity

Simple and reliable

Low power requirement

Versatile

Cost effective soil tillage and drilling in one combination tool. Carrier Drill uses well-proven Väderstad technology from both Carrier and Rapid machines to produce this versatile, capable and practical cultivation and drilling machine.

A simple system
For the small to medium sized farm, Carrier Drill can carry out all the soil preparation and seed drilling required to establish a new crop. Directly after harvest, one or two cultivation passes with Carrier Drill are carried out to initiate straw decomposition and to create a stale seedbed. Weeds seeds can be destroyed either mechanically or chemically. The only thing left to do is fill the seed hopper and start drilling on the next pass. Seed is placed in a band in the shadow of each disc, covered with soil and consolidated by the roller pack.

Proven ability in all fields
The acknowledged ability of Väderstad Carrier to cultivate to a precise working depth provides good conditions for uniform emergence. The seed metering system is also well-tried and tested.

Built for capacity
Carrier Drill has a generously proportioned 1100 litre seed hopper, which gives 4-6 Ha between refills and is placed close to the tractor in order to minimise machine lifting effort.

Working Zones

Coulters

The discs cut through soil and trash, creating a fine tilth. At the same time, seed can be placed in a band in the wake of the disc and at an optimal depth. The seed is covered by fine soil created by the serrated edges of the discs.

The conical scalloped discs (450 mm diameter) of special hardened steel work aggressively in the soil. The discs cut powerfully down into the soil and provide Carrier Drill with its ability to work in the most variable conditions. The discs and seed coulters efficiently clear straw from the seed slits. No pan is created during cultivation and the discs do not have to be adjusted to maintain drilling depth. Very intensive mixing can be achieved and with a resulting fine and level surface following the machine.

Consolidation

The packer breaks up clods and presses them down. The seed is thus well bedded in and provided with optimum conditions for uniform germination.

Carrier Drill has a weight of 850kg per metre working width, which makes for good penetration and good contact between seed and soil. The weight is particularly important in dry and hard conditions, where a light machine only scrapes the surface. Carrier Drill has roller packs of steel rings that have been well tested on Carrier. Thanks to the fact that the roller packs are compressed, each ring acts as a spring, which means that the packs do not have to be re-tightened. The steel rings have completely smooth sides, which makes it difficult for wet soil and straw to stick, even under very wet conditions.

Following Harrow

The rearward element of the Carrier Drill can be fitted with a heavy duty following harrow, for effective removal of press marks created by the drill, to achieve final breakdown of surface clods, provide extra consolidation to the surface of the seedbed and prevent capping.

Working angle can be adjusted as can the pressure applied to the soil. This facility permits fine-tuning of the amount of cultivation and consolidation achieved by the harrow, while at the same time allowing varying levels of crop residue to be dealt with.

Hot spots

Crossboard optional

A Crossboard levelling board is available as an option for the trailed model. This transforms Carrier Drill into a powerful soil tillage implement on ploughed soils, where Crossboard levels off the furrows.

The Crossboard tines are interlinked by a stabiliser bar with a breaking point of over 1100 N/mm2. This stabiliser bar gives a very thorough levelling effect on the coarsest plough furrows. On light soils or where moderate levelling is required, the bar can be removed.

Bout Markers

The bout markers (when fitted) are operated from the tractor cab and can be controlled via use of the Control Station. The tine leave a clearly visible mark and can be adjusted for position and cultivation effect.

Metering

Gearboxes are used to control the seed rate, are step-less in their operation and very simple to use. Metering of seed volumes down to 1 kg/ha can be achieved with good precision on nearly all seed types.

Depth Control

It is easy to adjust the working depth on Carrier Drill. The roller controls the entire machine and the depth can be adjusted hydraulically from the cab. Maximum cultivation depth is set using clips placed on the cylinder.

Rubber Suspension

The rubber suspension allows each individual disc to rebound by up to 15 cm to avoid damage during collisions with stones. This gives good protection and extends the lifetime of seed discs, seed coulters and bearings. In addition, Carrier discs do not draw up stones in the same way that tines do, which is a great advantage when drilling on stony ground.

Rubber suspension is also used on the packer gang bearings in order to reduce vibration and shock loads, prolonging the lifetime of all components of the machine.

Scrapers

The ingenious and responsive scrapers are suspended from their mountings, which means that the roller is kept clean even in tough and difficult conditions. An adjustable arm with equally adjustable wearing parts designed to follow the contours of the rings efficiently clear away any soil or plant trash.
