Mecoprop-p gains re-registration

9th Feb 2009

Nufarm has gained re-registration of approval for Duplosan KV as part of the European registration system for use in wheat, barley and oats, amenity grassland, managed amenity turf and grass seed crops.

‘Mecoprop-p mode of action is as an auxin mimic and its unique weed control spectrum makes it a product of choice in a wide range of situations. The range of uses includes spring broadleaved weed clean-up and in mixtures with a range of sulphonyl urea herbicides especially in spring cereals. Re-registration will come as a relief to many cereal growers’ says Jon Staton, Nufarm marketing manager.

Duplosan KV however has not re-gained approval for use in established grassland or newly sown grass leys and can no longer be applied in cereals between 1 October and 1 March which effectively excludes autumn use. Duplosan KV can also no longer be used on cereals undersown with grass. ‘This is not a disaster as Nufarm has a range of auxin mimic mixture product s which will cover the uses no longer covered by straight mecoprop-p’ explains Mr Staton.

Nufarm have also received approval for Compitox Plus and and Isomec which are alternative brands of mecoprop-p
