July 2009 Landini unveils new PowerMondial range Three models with four-cylinder Perkins engines Power outputs – 92hp, 102hp and 110hp New creep transmission with three-speed powershift MasterClass cab brings new comfort levels The Landini PowerMondial is a new premium option for livestock and arable farmers wanting a 100hp class tractor. It comes with a choice of three power outputs – 92hp, 102hp and 110hp. “The PowerMondial represents a step up from the established Vision (82hp to 99hp) in terms of power, performance, equipment and cab design,” notes Eamon Howden of Landini distributor AgriArgo UK. “We’re offering two versions – the high-spec ‘Top’, which comes with a cab style and set of features that matches anything in the same class, the ‘Techno’ with a simpler transmission.” Both versions come with three power outputs from the renowned Perkins 1104-44 series engine with after-cooled turbocharging and simple mechanical fuel injection delivering excellent power and torque characteristics. The ‘Top’ version’s ‘premium’ specification is underlined by the MasterClass cab, a spacious four-post design previously reserved for Landini’s six-cylinder PowerMax and PowerMaster tractors. It provides roomy driver accommodation and storage, plus a clear view to either side thanks to the lack of ‘B’ pillars – a feature that also creates a light and airy working environment enhanced by Landini’s trademark cab roof window. Auto climate-control air conditioning, an upholstered ‘passenger’ seat and electronic control of the three-point linkage add to the appealing nature of the cab. “Accessibility and the view all round the tractor are second-to-none; it’s built to what you might call ‘arable tractor’ standards,” adds Eamon Howden. “The PowerMondial is for a farmer or contractor who wants a comfortable workplace and a good level of equipment on a lively tractor around the 100hp mark.” The PowerMondial ‘Top’ is equipped with a new power shuttle creep transmission, which has been designed and developed at the parent ARGO group’s engineering facility in Italy. Like all Landini tractor transmissions and most front axles it is built in-house. For the first time on a four-cylinder Landini, the new T-Tronic transmission features three change-on-the-go powershifts in each of the 12 speeds available from the creep gearbox, giving a total of 48 ratios forward, 16 in reverse. “This gives the operator a good set of speeds for a wide range of field work, plus the versatility that comes from being able to quickly shift up and down to cope with changing draft loads, both in the field and on the road,” points out Eamon Howden. “Added to the heavier-duty rear axle, which has epicyclic reduction units rather than the spur gear design used on less powerful Landini tractors, the transmission underscores the PowerMondial’s ‘arable tractor’ build.” As part of the ‘Top’ specification, the tractor comes as standard with an assister ram that increases maximum three-point linkage lift capacity to 5650kg, electronic linkage control and lower-link draft sensing to make sure the tractor handles mounted soil-engaging implements like ploughs and cultivators efficiently and with good traction. A heavy-duty push-back pick-up hitch, which makes it easier for the driver to line up tractor and implement drawbars, is also part of the package. ‘Techno’ specification provides a lower-priced alternative for operators happy to have fewer features. The package includes a 15x15 speed synchro shuttle transmission and mechanical rather than electronic three-point linkage control.
